Justin Etheredge is a writer, director, and actor whose work explores identity, redemption, and the complexity of the human experience. His storytelling blends emotional honesty with striking visual intimacy, reflecting a deep curiosity about how people heal, love, and find meaning amid chaos. Etheredge made his feature debut with Good, (served as his UCLA Master’s thesis film), a quietly powerful drama that he wrote, directed, and starred in alongside legendary actor Keith David. The film premiered to critical acclaim at AFF (Austin Film Festival) and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video & NBC's Peacock, establishing him as a distinctive new voice in independent cinema. Praised for its emotional restraint and moral depth, Good showcased Etheredge’s ability to fuse performance and direction into something deeply human. Working closely with Mr. Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Etheredge has studied under and collaborated with Odom to refine his storytelling approach — one grounded in empathy, rhythm, and authenticity. He has also directed documentaries and branded content for acclaimed artists including Macy Gray and New Edition, experiences that strengthened his ability to draw truth and vulnerability from performers across
genres. Etheredge earned his Master’s degree in Film, Television, and Theater from UCLA, where he honed his cinematic voice and deepened his understanding of performance-driven storytelling. His latest short, Self Contained, expands his exploration of the inner landscape — a darkly comedic and deeply personal story about love, mental health, and learning to coexist with one’s own imagination. The film continues Etheredge’s signature approach: intimate, character-driven, and emotionally fearless. Based in Los Angeles, Etheredge is developing new projects for film and television that challenge perception, celebrate resilience, and explore the beautiful contradictions that make us human.
